Royal Roots

In 1404 in Breda, 11-year-old, wealthy Johanna van Polanen married Engelbrecht van Nassau. The basis for the family tree of the (Orange) Nassau family. And the beginning of the Golden Age of Breda. A period of prosperity and renewal, creativity and ambition. The Grote Kerk rises, the Mastbos is constructed and Breda Castle is rebuilt into a Renaissance palace. Princes, nobles, artists and scholars from all over Europe come to visit. This story inspires us to connect our history with the future. We do this by the name Royal Roots.
